Hi...
I'm just cutting up a ready made bamboo cutting board & making it into
a knife rack, to hold my kitchen knives side by side & sharp edge down
in the drawer. After hanging out on this BB for, well forever I have
developed a "Sharpening Problem"...
( every thing I have is as sharp as a razer... sissors, chisels, knives & planes etc.)
Need the rack to protect myself from just reaching into the drawer.

: It's possible to get panels and boards made from bamboo but the
: stuff is manufactured using a lot of specialized industrial
: equipment. You can do a lot with bamboo if you have an
: industrial size pressure cooker to soften it and roll it flat.
: Then it's bonded into whatever using glues that are activated by
: heat and or pressure. What you get is something that is as much
: glue as bamboo. Whatever you want to do at home will not benefit
: from any of this technology. Bamboo is tough to work with and
: the splinters are hell.
