Single change??

In fact you can't really just change the length and have nothing else change.

If you change the length and don't touch anything else, the angle of entry changes. When I lengthened a 15' kayak to 21', the half angle of entry changed from 8.29 to 6.05. How much difference does that contribute?

So in practice, a single change is impossible.

That is why I thought it was realistic to keep the stability the same and just accept that a number of other things would have to change.

It occurred to me that if someone wanted an 18ft kayak "just like my 15' kayak only longer", that stability would be the thing that they would want the same because that is the thing a lot of paddlers can immediately feel.

Don't stop your research. I find it interesting. However when you change the length, it is not the only thing that will be different.
