Heya, Heather...glad to hear from you again. Good to hear that Lily is sticking with the kayaking idea, too! I have no advice to offer on SOF since I have never built one. Maybe you should consider a S&G for the adult sized kayak. I have been working on Nick's S&G Night Heron. It's gonna be a sharp looking kayak. Lots of curves to trace out on it. Working from plans is more work but it keeps the cost down considerably. That said, you can always consider a Waters Dancing kit kayak. I would highly recommend any of Donnie's Solace designs. I will post the site link in case you might think about building a kit. The difference between $$$ CAD and $$$USA should help you fetch a great price. The kit comes with everything you need to get the kayak on the water.
