at some of the comments on this thread. "It's too much work." "Why would you want to do that anyway." "That's not what this site is for."

I'm also amazed at what Sam has done. I will stipulate that he's crazy for doing it, which, to me, is a Good Thing. Anyone remember the old Apple slogan "The Journey is the Reward"? It's not (necessarily) about the boat, but the journey. And Sam's trip seems to have been very interesting indeed. Thanks.

Oh yes, will I do the same thing? Probably not: too much work. But then I'd usually rather paddle 'em than build 'em. However if I can't/won't take his journey, I can at least enjoy and learn from it.
