I hear you, Carl. The method that I've found that helps is to pop the skirt and stow the paddle right before you hit the sand, then push yourself up an onto the aft deck as soon as the boat is aground. Pull out your feet, straddle the boat, stand up, then run like hell to the bow before the next wave whacks you. If the beach isn't steep, you can often hand walk the boat up a ways before getting out. Of course, this all sounds great on paper, but the sea isn't always accommodating. I often end up taking a few lumps or dumping unceremoniously on the beach. ;)
