: Hello Greg,
: Even though it is a rather oily wood, teak is epoxied quite a bit in boat
: building and can be done successfully. It is a good idea to remove any oil
: that migrates to the surface before applying epoxy by wiping with acetone
: or laquer thinner.
: This photo is of a coaming/recess built from teak - the sheer strips and
: outside stems are also from teak.

Hi Joe
Good to hear from you!
Really looks nice!
Was the Teak difficult to bend around the coaming( one layer or multi )? Never used it except on flat surfaces and used Laquer or Polyurethane to cover, ( after cleaning oil off as well with Laquer thinner ) Did you need to steam bend it? If so, did you clean it right away or wait till you were ready to glue it up? I was wondering if it would be a problem with the wood warm, having the oil keep bleeding into the cleaned off areas.
