I'll do tests before using the filler. Matching the color with wood flour shouldn't be hard, I can lighten the color by adding in small amounts of white micro balloons (which also makes the resulting mixture easier to sand and fair).

How should I make the wood flour? I was thinking about grabbing a bunch of my strip waste and hitting it with the belt sander. I think I kept some sawdust from the table saw, but that stuff is way to big for wood flour.
