: I don't think there is any significant windage difference between the
: feathered
: euro paddle and the native paddle given "good technique".

: If a native paddle is used with the lower stroke and "canted"
: technique the
: blade in the air is feathered.

Benefit is already there with Greenland and Aleut paddles as you say, mostly due to the distribution of blade area. I would say this IS a significant difference.

Cant angle can also contribute a little bit, but the benefit in air is minimal (unlike the benefit in water!).

The "lower stroke" is similarly not beneficial to the same degree as it is with a Euro in wind. The Greenland and Aleut paddles can be of course be used lower same as with a Euro - and may gain some slight additional advantage in wind doing so (simply by being more out of the wind when lower to the water), but these paddles are NOT low angle paddles and work quite well with higher angle strokes - and are still relatively neutral in wind when doing so.

In other words: The traditional blade shapes don't need to hide from the wind via feathering OR low angle strokes like the "modern" lollipop paddles do.
