Steve, I've built and paddled a Pygmy Coho 1 season. This particular kayak does not need a rudder or any other directional aid. Leaning helps iniciate turns, but is not necessary to keep on course. The tracking in all conditions is superb. She does not weathercock and is a very dry ride. All my paddling is on inland lakes and rivers with 2' waves and 30 mph winds the worst encountered so far. I could spend all day telling you how great my boat is, but I've answered your specific question. If you need any more info about the Pygmy Coho, E-Mail me direct.
