The wet tape method may work just fine but, Jay's method is by far the easiest. All you do is tack the tape to the hull with dabs of hot glue, leaving half of the tape above the sheer. When you lay the boat on it's side the tape is where it belongs and cant move around because the hot glue holds it in place.
I took the method one step further. I mounted a large syringe on a 4' stick with a dowel as a plunger. The syringe was filled with thickened epoxy
(kinda loose). The plastic nozzle of the syringe was inserted under the side of the tape without the hot glue (deck side). I pushed the plunger and applied a bead of thickened epoxy along the sheer seam, under the tape. The tape was wetted with the brush on a stick method by dipping in a cup of epoxy and applying it to the tape. The thickened epoxy oozed down into the seam and made a more positive surface for the tape, with less chance of air bubbles under the tape.
This method worked great for me.
