: You convinced me to swallow my anxieties and go with a wet tape
: "scroll". But I have some questions.
: 1. With the tape rolled up, how do you get it wet through?
: 2. I can imagine this driping mass of wet tape that is more epoxy that tape.
: How do you avoid too much epoxy?
: The basic problem, as I see it, is getting the tape wet but not having
: excessive epoxy.
: Any tips are appreciated.

Hi, I just finished doing my seams in the manner you are suggesting. this was my experience.
1. I unrolled the tape along the outside of the yak to measure and cut."By the way, doing it in two pieces made it very easy.
2. I used a fabric cutter I bought at a fabric store to cut off the seam edge.
3. I rolled the tape back up.
4. I used mas epoxy so i used 6 pumps of each. Mixed well, then laid the roll in my mixing cup. for about 5 minutes, while doing step 5 approximately 5 mins.
5. I brushed on a 3 to 4 inch wide layer of epoxy along the seam to be glassed.
6. Starting in the center of the cockpit i laid the roll down and used my stick with brush attached to unroll the epoxy soaked tape. Note take your time, its not a race. If you get a little sidetracked dont worry just keep rolling it out. when its completely rolled out you can lift the tape at the cockpit and it will straighten out then just smooth it back into your precoat of epoxy.
Use your brush/stick attachment to brush the excess epoxy to the ends where the tape doesnt get completely wet during soaking to wet out the entire length.
Note make your stick brush attachment first.
Have two cups available to work with, one for soaking the other for brushing.
If it gets side tracked, I used the brush to hold the tape in the farthest reach of the hull, then gently lifted and the tape straightens then just let it down.
Dont get excited. I thought this was gonna be a nightmare, as it turns out it was extremely easy.
Use a respirator and a fan if you have one as it gets really hot in there.
if you size your stick right you really dont have to crawl in the yak, just your head.
Hey a little longwinded but I hope it helps.
Keep building, Elliott
