In BC it is expected that all the old growth red cedar will be gone in 10 years.

Some second growth being cut is over 100 years old and some third growth is being cut as well. None can replace the fine grained old growth with its different colors of purple and black streaks.

Currently in BC red cedar goes for around $6.50 BF though you can get it much cheaper rough cut at a small sawmill.
