You are paying $5.10 per board foot which is about on par with what I have found here. A "board foot" is the equivalent of a nominal 1" thick board, a foot wide and a foot long or 144 cubic inches of rough sawn wood. Unfortunately, we are dealing with a nominally 1" thick board which should be at least 3/4" thick but now is often 11/16th" or less. The lumber guy doesn't understand why it matters, but 8% thinner means we need more board feet to cover the same area when it is cut into strips. I don't mind the lumber companies trying to conserve the supply by cutting thinner boards, but they should call it what it is and state their prices accordingly.
