It is looking great Bill! I'd go with some sort of roving or lashing. I have a similar type construction on the floor od my latest Walrus. When I was getting into it (in a parking lot, not in water), I cracked some stringers at a rib. I glued the crack and lashed the joints where my weight is put. This makes the area MUCH stronger, with very little weight added. After seeing the ease of lashing and the strenght it has over glue, I will switch to lashed SOF from now on I think.

: The deck on the SOF Return is progressing nicely (read, I'm done with
: ribs!!). Pics are at http://users.moscow.com/bprice/projectx/index.html

: Now the question: I have been debating the necessity of the kevlar roving on
: this boat. Originally, I was going to follow Platt Monfort to the letter,
: but after having handled the boat, it seems plenty rigid. A traditional
: boat, which this is similar to, does not have it. Platt's boats are all
: open top and would probably benefit from the roving, but the closed top
: kayak may be more solid. Should I for go the roving or not??

: For those who are not familiar with roving, in this case it is a kevlar
: thread which is criss crossed over the boat frame, under the skin in order
: to strengthen the structure.
