Here's another strong vote for the Fein Turbo II. My sweetie gave it to me for Christmas...available through the Tool Crib part of Amazon.com for about $200. The auto switch for tools is wonderful and the lower db is the best part (thought I still wear hearing protection). The longer, flexible hose also is much easier than the more rigid shop vac type hoses.

The only additional thing to consider is their "accessories" kit. The vac comes with pretty much the vac and hose...other attachments must be ordered separately. FWIW, their hose diameter is different than Sears shop vac or any of the Genie/Rigid brand stuff...can't interchange accessories without adapters.
