Well, you won't be the first one...

Lexan is a GE trade name for polycarbonate.

Eddyline's Carbonlite 2000 line of kayaks are all molded polycarbonate. They're about 1/8" thick, and really nice boats. They fit a nice niche between fiberglass boats and plastic bathtubs. They're stiffer than plastic, not quite as stiff as glass. More scratch-resistant than plastic, not quite as much as glass. Cheaper than glass, more expensive than plastic. The NightHawk is a really nice performer. They also have a Modulus line which consists of fiberglass vacuum-bagged to the inside of a Carbonlite shell--supposed to be tougher than conventional gelcoat.

Eddyline sells Methyl Merthacrylate in their Carbonlite repair kits--this might be a good adhesive to consider. You can use methyl merthacryate as a resin and actually use it to wet-out fiberglass to bond to the Lexan. I don't know if it's available in clear versions, so you might want to check out solvents if you want the joint to be perfectly clear. They seem to use methyl merthacryate to bond their hull and deck together, glue on coamings, glue in bulkheads, and glue in skeg boxes.

: I was planing to build a Kayak from Lexan I've done some glue test and
: everything holds fine. I had not planed to paint the craft but leave it
: clear. What do ya think? Any comments or advice will be appreciated.
: Thanks.
