:FWIW. the only thing I've heard (from an epoxy fishing rod building company) is that their epoxy could be thinned with "up to 5%" with acetone. But acetone is volatile, while some of the bulk epoxy suppliers talk about using a "non-volatile" thinner. Maybe its a trade secret, so they can take a gallon of thick stuff and stretch it to several gallons of thin stuff.

Wonder if "poise" is linearly related - I have some brand name epoxy that is 15,000 poise (water is = to 1). Also have some that is 700 poise (resin only). Does that mean someone can stretch 1 gallon of 15,000 poise to 20 gallons of 700 with the appropriate thinners?! Boy, that would help my budget!! (but I doubt the chemistry works that way).
