Hello Dean,

I have cavalier, '96

I got it long before I realised I'll cary a kayak on its roof.

when the moment arrived I started to look for anchor point. there weren't any, so I looked under the engine cover. I found something to tie a loop around. I think it's some bracket for the radiator, or the bumper, or whatever. I pulled the loop with my hand to make sure it doesn't bend anything. I closed the engine cover & pulled again to see if it bends it, & it didn't.

the loop goes out under the engine cover, & I can tie to it whatever I want. I don't use tie-downs for the front & rear. I use cords for this purpose. The tie-downs are only for the roof rack.

works well for me.

Good luck with the Germans.
