Hi Dennis,

I have the Bosch 3725DVS 5" Random Orbit Sander. It's got 4,500-12,000 OPM variable speed, hook and loop pads. The front handle can be removed to get into close quarters. I like everything about this sander except for it being a little top-heavy when you try to use it single handed. The variable speed feature is really nice, and I recommend it for boat building. When you're fairing, you can speed it up. When you're sanding epoxy you can slow it down so you don't hit glass (at least not right away).

If I were in the market again, I might take a look at the barrel-shaped model for a better single-handed grip. But I'd definitely go with variable speed.

Happy hunting,

Ross
