Nils, I owned a business a few years back building ocean going multihulls. We used doorskins for all interior bulkheads and flooring. The doorskins were vacuum bagged to balsa core forming a stiff strong composite with an attractive veneer. Working off the advice of the West System boat building book, we always did the soak/heat test on each new shipment of doorskins. To perform this test cut a small "coupon" about 4"x4" of your doorskin. Soak it for a few hours then bake in an oven at a couple hundred degrees ( don't start any fires!!) for an hour or so. I did this 3 times on the same coupon. Some panels did fail, about 1 in 10. I would think a similiar test would be cheap insurance on your 10.00 sheet!! If you plan on staining any part of your boat, I would recommend staining the sheet first with a water based stain. This way when you get epoxy on your wood during construction, you dont have to worry about sanding through the surface of the veneer before staining.
