1- If thats the only problem, considering he has no wookworking experience, no boatbuilding experience and wanted no help, I'd say he's done pretty well. 2- Leave the hump alone to act as a reminder to take some advice next time. If he has done that well, he'll be building another one before long. 3- Congratulate him for me! Ed (woodworker)
