I haven't built one, but it would drive me crazy to have such a bump. I would carefully check to see which panel is outa line, cut a slot (razor saw) along the chine about 8-10in long, glue sandpaper to the side of the saw, sand (the edge of the unfair panel) and stitch, sand and stitch until the bump disappears. then reglass the area.

I would imagine this approach might make some finish appearance problems - I just don't know what the tradeoff would be.
