Lee,

I agree wholeheartedly. The Tern performs nicely but it is an expedition size. I got into ultralight/minimalist backpacking before I started kayaing, I could live for over a month out of the Tern. If Pygmy came out with a Tern with a 20" beam I'd be first in line to get one. I am wanting to build a fun play/day kayak. I need to build my wife's Redfish and see if I like strip building, if so I'll build a low volume stripper (Guillemot, Silver, or Outer Island). If not I'll make more modifications to the Walrus design and build one with a 20" beam, more deadrise, and maybe a little more rocker. I like the 4" higher bow on my brother's and the smaller cockpit. I still haven't given it up yet. I keep deleying for some reason. Maybe I'll take it out tomorrow, it's supposed to be sunny and 50 degrees, and I worked extra this afternoon.
