Like Lee said, calculating volume doesnt directly translate to specific storage capacity, but the Chesapeake series has the most volume of any boats I've ever seen. (Not counting Grumman canoes).

Which boats are you wondering about? You could probably enlist the assistance of a volunteer or two on this BBS to fill their compartments with water and report back on how many milkjugs-full (okay, gallons) it takes to fill each compartment.

I can probably fit at least 4 medium drybags and 2 large-ish drybags in the aft compartment of my CLC Ches. 17. 3-4 medium drybags in the front compartment. The problem with the front compartment (that I mentioned in another thread) is not capacity, but the small hatch CLC designed for that compartment.

Not to mention 1-2 medium drybags in front of the footpegs inside the cockpit (or more if you're not 6'-6"!)
