Hi Mick,

I would use silicon as a last resort. If ever you want to refinish the surface after applying silicon... read repaint... You have to be sure that all of that silicon is gone, and believe me it's not easy. Just sanding it will just spread it around and if you leave even a speck of it on your wood, it could ruin your finish. Fish eye will show on your paint or varnish.

So if you have another solution... use it. Bigbob
