I cut mine 5 years ago. I was sawiwing a 3/4" dado for a funiture. Because the saw kept binding, I took the guard off for the first time in my life. Then it started to rain, I looked up for a split second. Cut my middle finger right down to the bone. The doc stitch me up well. Five years pasted, I still have no sansation on my finger.

A new comer to our contruction site setted off to cut some lumber without support at the end of the cut. The sudden weight of the skilsaw caught her by supprise at the end of the cut. She dropped the saw on her thigh just before the guard closed. She ripped our pretty leg up bad. Took over fifty stitches to close her wound.

Another guy plugged in his power sander. He did not know the trigger was locked on. The sander race across the room and hit someone, who was sitting on the floor eating lunch, in the crotch, chewwed up his coverall and ripped half his pelvic hair. We laurghed hard, but when the guy did not response, we called an ambulance. The guy never came back to work.

We were lucky compairring to another guy on his last day to retirement. He packed all his tools away, but asked to nail an electric conduuit to an above - head concrete beam. He pulled out his Ramset and fired the nail for the first time without his hard hat. The nail hit a stone, bounced back and went straight through the top of his head. He never made it to the celebration for his retirement. That accident destroyed two family: both the deceased and the forman -- they were good friend.

My lenghly letter is to point out that you cannot let you guard down for even a short time, no matter how brief. Tools and chemicals can be dangerous if misused. A lapse of judgement can be costly, or fatal.
