In a moment of _extreme_ enthusiasm, I braced myself and cost myself a wooden paddle. The shaft splintered and broke when I used the coaming as the fulcrum. It was an accident, I never went over and the coaming only has a tiny white dimple where the glass was hit. But the paddle became oars.

I have a deck elastic tie down that catches my hand too. Sometimes it winds up the paddle leash too.
