Hi Don

I haven't had any experience with redwood but I have found that if the distance between the router bit and the edge of the opening in the fence is too great the size of the chunks increase, a quick remedy for this is to take a piece of 1/2" ply and cut a window the size of your bit trough the edge and clamp this to your fence, the tearout should be a lot less, you could even slowly feed it into the leading edge of your bit to get the profile and closest fit,but be careful. Another thing occured to me that I have tried with really dry wood is to dampen the edge to be routed a few minutes prior with wet rag or a small roller . hope this helps
