If you have Nick's book, there is a pic of his set-up. I made the hold down featherboard like the one in the book. This is a long featherboard made of plywood and works much better than the small one I used previously. Another thing that helped with my router was a speed control. I found the 25000 rpm fixed speed too fast for cedar. I bought a speed control and slowed to about 16000 rpm. It works much better now. The other posts about direction of rotation of the bit is VERY important. Check that first.
