There are several 2 part polyurethane clearcoats (and paints) designed for the Do-It-Yourselfer. These paints are designed to be brushed on, and will give spray quality results if done correctly.

I agree entirely with the everyones comments regarding safety precautions for spraying a isoocyanate based paint (remember bhopal india?) Once it's atomized it is extremely toxic, but if you're using a roller/brush application method with good ventilation and appropriate safety measures (gloves, etc.) the risk or sensitization is minimal.
