My only concern with silicons is that although they are a good sealer, they have relatively poor adhesive qualities. Have you tried to get your bulkheads to fail in the manner caused by a cockpit full of water sloshing back and forth? Or by the water forcing an object in the cockpit into the bulkhead?

I moved the bulkhead back about 12 inches (I have really short legs) in my Necky kayak and used a urethane adhesive to attach it. This is the stuff used to hold the windshield in you car. It is as easy or easier than silicon, and the bulkhead will fail long before the urethane. It also has better sealing properties than silicon. Ian
