It can be paddled like that, but the freeboard is a little high. If you enlarge it, that problem will grow.

I saw one in Port Townsend, TRICKED! This guy had set it up with the power unit of a electric trolling motor built into a rudder like a kayak. It had two closed compartments, bow and stern. The battery balanced it out. The cockpit had canvas pockets for fishing tackle all around. It was really neet!

Too much. I used cheezy (not cheap) doug fir 1/4" marine plywood, that was before I found a local source for okume. It took a lot of epoxy and paint to fill in the cracks and lousy surface. I dont recall the number, but it is too heavy for one person to portage more than 100' or so. I think on the next one, 3mm with 6oz glass inside, and 12oz outside. I'd guess it'll come in around 30#.
