I'm in the process of installing footbraces on my CLC using an idea that I found on-line at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/btreecs/Art_Foot.htm. To summarize, he advises cutting a small wood block, drilling it and adding a "t-nut" and epoxying the wood block to the proper location inside of the hull. To finish off, you put a small bolt through the footpeg rail into the t-nut. No holes through the side of your beautiful hull.

(If you plan on some serious rough water, you might want to consider the added security of fillets around the mounting blocks.

(BTW, I was able to find the t-nuts and stainless bolts at the local Home Depot.)
