IMHO, you're right about the CLC plans being somewhat brief for a first time builder. I was lucky enough to buy Chris's kayak book FIRST — lots of great information. I then ordered the epoxy/fiberglass books from both West Systems and System Three. (I had never worked with epoxy before, so the $10 was well spent.)

Reading (and rereading) these three sources plus keeping up with this excellent bulletin board and the rec.boats.building has given me some rich resources which have greatly aided construction of my CLC Chesapeake.
