For the first time builder there are several concepts that are not intuitive and must be understood throughly before building. I have built 2 CLC boats - Chesapeake 16 and Patuxent 17. The few questions I had were answered quickly and throughly via email. I usually don't read instructions but decided that I didn't want $600 of kindling instead of a kayak. Also look at Chris's book on kayak Building. I read it beteen kayak #1 and kayak #2 and learned a lot of things.
