I've tried the plywood U shaped clips and clamps, and hot glue, and the harbor freight cheap bar clamps.

I currently like the masking tape option - green tape didn't do anything better than blue or beige (actually beige sticks stronger but that is not always good).

I was interested in the fishing line method, but it took too much fiddling around.

I also tried the no glue, putting epoxy into the seam after stripping per Bjorn Thomasson. This leaves larger gaps and requires lots of Epoxy sanding to smooth out the boat. It seemed to promise quicker stripping, but the extra / harder sanding bothered me. It may be good for painted boats.

If you are going to try many methods, I suggest you only build the first 4 feet of some design. That way you get to try it, you don't spend a lot of time or money, and you can make a trophy of each test. Hang them on the shop wall like a Moose head. :)
