Rob, you never have put a dent into the strip with the metal joint on the clamp? No protection pad there?

Good question.

I don't have any bruises or dents where the spring clamp bare metal jaw touches the top of the strip edge because I apply all the joint closing pressure with my hand first and then place the clamp snuggly. You'll notice my spring clamps are applied on an angle so the rubber tip/edges straddle the joint clamping the two strips together.

Certainly, I would expect damage if the pressure to close the strip joint was applied directly to the clamp alone.

Pre-fitting each strip ensures little force is needed to have a tight joint.
