Umungata Bay I suspect and not Bottle Bay. Possibly looking across at Momarangi Bay. If I'd been asked to put a finger on a bay on a map of the Sounds, that's where it would have been. Paddled past a few times on the way from Anakiwa to Mistletoe Bay to camp.

The national sea kayak forum (KASK Forum) is at Anakiwa again this year, 26 - 29 February -

Even just dropping past to see what is floating around might be worthwhile and someone is sure to be willing to talk kayaks and building. I expect we will be there.
