Yeah, no kidding. This winter/spring I'm also building a S&G kayak for my daughter. She'll be 10 in February. She's outgrown her second SOF and now wants a "real" kayak. Right now I'm designing it. She wanted a baidarka for some reason. It'll be entirely out of plywood (eg no solid wood components to carve). Below is a rendering of the adult version (17.5'x20.5" sized to meet the Sound Rowers "FSK" class). Once I'm happy wit it I'll scale it down so it's more her size. Lucky kid...
