For the original Skeg, I am not sure it was rope or wire - however looking at the skeg control slider - it looks like it would have been wire?

I 'll try to get around to looking to see if there is still a skeg box inside the kayak

Yep - Have both hatch covers - they are in pretty good shape and being stored indoors.

I was thinking I would work on the Hull First - try out the kayak and find out if its for me - it may be too big for me (5'6", 150-180lbs depending on holidays ;-))
