In the sides or the deck the 3 degrees will just open up gaps in the backside which will have to be filled before you glass.
It can help.

Personally I would suggest you build a "nose" of the boat to learn all the techniques you need - so you don't learn by mistake on the real boat.
Just make the first 3 or 4 frames to the nose.
When it's finished you can mount it on a plaque like a deer head, and freak out your wife.

When building a "nose" you get to look at the result of your decisions relatively quickly and decide what you really want.
