I am a bit light as well- My slapping has been in the same conditions. Dead into the wind, 2-3' chop. Like Etienne said of his North Star, a few degrees off and it doesn't slap.

About being light- If you do a forum search for posts by Don Goss about adding a small permanent skeg you might find it interesting.
