Thanks for all the good input. I'm feeling a lot better about my "slappy" NH. I was paddling into about a 10 knot wind, so there was a light chop with small short waves. I guess I should not concern myself too much with it. It does turn and surf really nice, so, I don't want to sound like I'm unhappy at all. I love the boat and the way it handles. I may have the same problem as Allan as I'm around 150 pounds, which is at the light end of the recommended weight for this kayak.
I greatly appreciate everyone's feedback. I just need to log more time in my NH in a variety of conditions to get a real feel for it's capabilities. I may try to stick a block of foam behind my seat to inch it forward to see if that makes a difference. It's already set 4" forward of the coaming back. And, yeah, my buddies are all paddling low volume kayaks. I went with the high deck since my knees don't bend as well as they used to.
Thanks,
Jack
