I use titebond III too but I noticed that it needs really long clamping time to fully cure. When I released the joint after 1-2hrs it always broke up again but I had no problems after overnight clamping. Maybe because the planed surface doesn't leave enough bonding grip?
I usually set up a pile of strips for glueing, divided by a piece of wax paper or plastic. this way I can do around 10 strips at once. I also glue a lot of scarf joints during hull stripping, it works just fine but sometimes isn't as neat...
