One thing to consider is the colour change that can occur in the wood with some glues and woods. For instance the glue joints between redwood strips using Titebond II will turn Dark Maroon almost black. This can bee seen in the picture below. The lack of dark lines is where I did not put enough glue that it squared out... Time will tell if it cracks and turns white from bad glue joints...
