: HiReg!
: When the temporary flange on 2x4 uprights is applied beside the
: plug, how has the yak itself been held up? Is part of the each
: 2x4 shaped to hold up part of the deck and therefore the yak?
: And what is the tape that bridges the gap between the flange and
: the plug? Is it glass tape so that it becomes part of the mold?
: Or does the mould echo the tape, etc?
: In one of the mould making steps, you comment that 4 layers of matt
: is used? Is that all? Is there some coring also?
: Looks good!

Hi Mick, Busted. I missed one video so here it is.

And to answer your question, the hatch and cockpit recesses have level reference areas that are constantly used to keep everything square. In this video you can see that those points are balanced on buckets and stabilized at the cockpit. Lots of hot glue to keep 2x4s in place.

The special tape is called flange tape and it can be used instead of claying. We also put that on the flange for easy release. It is .003" thick and contacted the plug where the outside seam runs. There are tape marks imprinted in the mold flanges but that does not effect anything.

We tried something new on this and recessed the side seam area by .025". A little tougher to get the parts out of the mold but makes for near blind seam line.

Anyway, enjoy this vid and let me know if you have more questions. Note the sidewalk supervisor in this one.

Best,

Reg
