: The Shooting Star is not simply a scaled down version of the North
: Star, which the Fire Star IS.

: Both the North Star and the Fire Star are higher volume, high sheer
: line kayaks.

: The Shooting Star is a lower volume lower sheer line than the Fire
: Star, the closest in size.

: The Shooting Star is 16' 6" and the Fire Star is 17'. Both
: have a beam of 21".

: The Shooting Star hull is slightly flattened compared with the Fire
: Star to give it more initial stability
: relative to it's smaller size.

: Bill,
: A black boat sounds cool, but didn't I just read about the problems
: of being seen by other boaters????

: Perhaps you could put a detail line along the sheer of light tape.

Hi Rob,
About kayak colour. Blue and green are the worst for sea kayaking, perfect camo. Red, yellow, show up very well, they're uncommon colours on water. White will show well on calm water but not so well on 'riled up' water, it looks like a patch of white foam, or on calm water with low sun. Black shows up fairly well, it triggers the 'hunting instinct' as it looks a bit like potential prey. Except at night, but everything is harder to see at night. :)
