Skin and coating can really add up. My last boat was around $200 to build.

My daughters new sea rover is a bit more.
1/2" MDE plywood (I could get at lease 2 more boats out of it) $20
1x2 furring for stringers $10
8 oz ploy fabric ~$40
2 part urethane $80 (migh get two boats out of this?)
Aluminum (16) and welding (36) for coaming $46 (check this out at SSTIKS - I'm trying something new)

Hope it lasts for a few years.

The Sea Rover is ~17' long and 18" wide.

: Here is what I have into my son's scaled down Kidarka.

: Leftover scrap plywood for
: stations, stem and stern free
: Artificial sinew and glue
: leftover from another project free
: Dowels
: leftover from another project free
: 2 1”x4”x 10’ pine boards
: for longitudinals $10

: 4’x12 canvas painters tarp $7

: Dental floss $1

: Oops can of exterior latex paint $5

: Spray paint for decorating it $15

: Quilting hoop coaming risor
: From goodwill $1.50

: 1/4” for coaming lip
: and decklines $7

: I didn't need the spray paint, and I could have used some rope I
: had laying around, so I could have build this thing for under
: $25. I know the canvas painter's tarp won't last long, but he
: will only be able to paddle this one for about 4 years anyway
: before he outgrows it.
