The "Gorilla Grip" brand tape is amazing for outdoor use. I ended up using it as a rub strip down the keel of my painted nylon SOF when the paint developed a crack down the keel edges. It stayed on all summer (weekly use and outdoor storage) and was still so tacky at the end of the season that the tape peeled up the remaining paint underneath when I took it off!
I always keep a small roll behind by seat.

: I take duct tape off the roll, wrap about 2 or 3 feet of the stuff on a small
: dowel, then put that and a few paper towels in a zip lock bag and stuff
: into the boat. Once the boat is dry, the duct tape makes a nearly
: permamant fix.
