I've used poly plastic when doing canoe repairs or when glassing parts. The trouble is the wrinkles. If you can lay it wrinkle free it might work very well, but every wrinkle could be a headache. Mind you, if the glas is not into the wrinkle and the epoxy there is taken off with a sharp scraper while green, maybe it could turn out well despite wrinkles. Practicing on scrap seems wise.
